SAILWINT creates a new era: the era of sailing wind turbine ships, unlocking the vast, untapped energy of the oceans. We deliver low-cost and clean power to fuel thriving economies and societies. Our mission is to make clean energy at scale affordable, socially acceptable and resilient to achieve energy sovereignty and to overcome the fossil fuel age.

Far-offshore winds are stronger and steadier providing an energy yield upside of 20-30% plus additional 10% upside given no wake loss/wind shadow effects compared to current offshore wind farms. No electricity grid connections provide massive CAPEX savings and the mobile approach reduces O&M OPEX. Levelized cost of energy (LCOE) is 50% lower than floating offshore and 30% lower than fixed-bottom offshore wind.

Pilots

SAILWINT has built an operational prototype and successfully launched a pilot campaign on the offshore North Sea between Cuxhaven and Helgoland with the Fraunhofer Institute.

The next scaled-up iteration is currently under development. SAILWINT has secured a federal grant to build the next generation of energy-producing sailing wind turbine ships and launch pilots on the North- and Baltic Sea with our partners.
